SCHATZ(R)-cerTEST Mobile Special Version

A combined hardware/software system for checking handheld screwdrivers and assembly drive spindles (assembled or dismounted)

The customer's requirement:

To ensure the traceability of bolted assembly processes (such as according to VDI 2862), approximately 600 assembly drive spindles must be checked every year. This requires the spindles to be dismounted, and some of them must be sent to a service provider for checking. This entails a major logistics effort and generates high costs.

The difficulties:

1. To avoid interrupting the ongoing bolted assembly process, the spindles are checked during the plant holiday shutdown. Employees must be made available to handle the logistics processes.

2. In some cases the entire system must be checked, including the controller.

3. For some of the equipment, dismounting the spindles is very complicated and time-consuming.

The solution:

A special version of the SCHATZ(R)-cerTEST Mobile system

  • Movable industrial PC (IPC) with touch screen and touchpad
  • Special adapter mechanism for drive spindles fitted in front of the IPC, with a sliding mechanism for positioning over the simulator
  • Battery-powered operation allows the system to be used independent of mains power
  • External simulators and transducers can be connected
  • Integrated simulators for three torque ranges (10 N·m, 50 N·m and 200 N·m) in interchangeable housings with attached 5-m connection cables, for actuation in assembled or dismounted state
  • Label printer for direct label printout on the assembly line
  • Stand-alone CEUS software platform, including certificate generation and test planning
  • Mobile configuration using special casters for "white" floors

This special version of the SCHATZ(r)-cerTEST Mobile system thus allows machine capability studies to be performed directly where the equipment is installed.

It can be used to test complete systems, including controllers.

Various types of tests, such as in-process, joint scanning and machine capability tests, can thus be carried out on handheld tools and assembly drive spindles using a single hardware/software product.
