The prerequisite for the accuracy of the parameters arrived at for assembly is the earlier laboratory experiment, to ensure that torque and tensile strength combine to maximum effect. To analyse this, precise sensor technology is needed that records several components, a corresponding laboratory system with controlled motors and flexible, easy to use software to control the processes and evaluate the resulting measurements.
Sophisticated measurement technology is accompanied by qualified testXpert® software. This comprehensive software package grew out of cooperation between two companies SCHATZ AG and Zwick GmbH. Thus years of experience of testing connecting elements and of materials testing were brought together. Eventually the equivalent of 120 man years of software development work went into this programme. This becomes apparent from its comfortable ease and security of use, as well as in the variety of control and evaluation functions. We extended this software package in-house to include specific control procedures and the evaluation of applications to record friction coefficients for layered screws.
Testing firmness of installation, hardness and recording friction values with a user interface the extension of testXpert® aimed above all to preserve the look and feel of the base software, to make it easier for experienced users to move into the SCHATZ laboratory environment. In conjunction with hardware newly developed for this purpose, i.e. multi-component sensors for the separate analysis of head friction, thread friction and tensile strength, allied to controls, drive motor and mechanical equipment, this gave rise to a multifaceted testing system, that can deal with almost all tests relating to measurement of torque, strength and angles. In addition to these potential applications the system can also in a very simple fashion complete complex tests which go beyond them. Like recording the friction moments in differential gears, functions tests on adjustable elements, through to fracture tests or long-term usage tests on tools.
The intuitive user interface assists the user to organize tests and items to be tested. Freely definable test procedures also allow performance of difficult testing processes.
The test tasks are simply lined in like rows of bricks with functional building blocks and then performed. The user determines the selection of the desired results on screen or on paper, and also the presentation in graphics and tables. Your own graphics like company logos, pictures or drawings can easily be incorporated. The mathematical module allows calculation from individual measurement results as the user requires.
